Chemical Analysis - Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES)

The material to be analyzed is subjected to a powerful electrical discharge. Under the effect of this discharge, part of the surface vaporizes creating a cloud of excited ions that emit electromagnetic radiation. This radiation is subsequently solved in its spectral components by an optical spectrometer. Each individual component is characteristic, and unique, for each chemical element and the intensity is proportional to its concentration.
