This test consists in a wedge transmitting a load to the edge of the rim reproducing a frontal contact with an obstacle (pot- holes, sidewalk). A tyre inflated with a reduced pressure is employed.
The rim deformation test is usually combined with a fatigue test (e.g. rim-rolling test) consequent to the damage induced on the rim.
